Established
in 2003 in Livonia, Michigan, to evolve a philosophy
combining the concepts of traditional physical therapy and
traditional osteopathy into an approach called the “Somatic
model approach to neuro-musculoskeletal dysfunction”. The
institute has currently evolved toward emphasis on primary
care intervention to determine appropriateness of
individuals for physical therapy. The result has been a
strong emphasis on identifying non mechanical sources of
neuro-musculoskeletal dysfunction and screening for systemic
disease.
The institution stays committed to it’s goal of training
physical therapists to prioritize commitment to
professionalism and discharge their responsibilities by way
of high standards of patient care, share knowledge that
leads to such a process by the state of the art pedagogy,
demonstrate ongoing commitment to stay abreast of
contemporary practice standards by way of continuing
education, expand body of information by research and
writing and stay committed to improving and maintaining the
quality of life in their community. |
